Carry
(From The Tale of Peter Rabbit )
3 x 5 inches
Watercolor and India Ink
While working on my main project, I thought I'd try my hand at illustrating a character from Peter Rabbit for the weekly theme of "Carry". (link) I always thought it was a very sad moment in the story, when Peter realizes that he's trapped in Mr. MacGregor's garden and no one can help him get out of his self-inflicted situation. The mouse in Beatrix Potter's charming illustration is so tiny, that as a girl I used to wonder what she would look like if I could somehow pop into the story for a better look at her. If I'd more time I would have put a proper frock on Mrs. Mouse, but seeing as Beatrix showed her going without, I figured a simple rendering was good enough.

Love the last post of the small girl as well....beautiful color pallette.
Bron -- Not at all. :) I.F. is a great community, isn't it?
Adrienne -- So glad to hear. I do tend towards realism, but hope to still convey a spark of personality in my work.
Sarah -- Really? How adorable! And thanks for the nod to the color on the other piece. Can't tell you how much I struggled with it...
dosankodebbie -- Thanks so very much. I'll have to visit again to see what you do next...
